Three Threads

From the 21 to 22 of April 2018, the RHS Orchid Committee, held its first meeting in Ireland.

In honour of this special event, an exhibtion was held to highlight the work of the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin and in particular, Frederick Moore's contribution to orchid botany and horticulture.

The exhibition was entitled 'Three Threads' and explored  three themes relating to Frederick Moore's passion.

The three threads comprised of original paintings by Margareta Pertl hightlighting the orchids named for Frederick Moore, paintings by Deborah Lambkin, the official artist to the RHS’s Orchid Committee, illustrating the RHS award winning orchids and finally, the display of lantern slides that Frederick Moore used for his only lecture given to the RHS orchid committee, 'The Lesser Known Orchids'. This online exhibition focuses on the last of these threads.
